There are many reasons to oppose Kamala Harris. Here is one more, courtesy of Matt Orfalea, a brave citizen-journalist who once again brings the receipts.
We are seeing an unprecedented wave of censorship, driven by government, aided and abetted by compliant, ideologically captured mass media.
There have been previous periods of censorship, of course. The Great War, World War II, the Cold War come to mind. But these were driven by emergency conditions and were essentially voluntary: “Loose lips sink ships” and all of that. These previous campaigns pale in comparison to the massive, highly coordinated effort we see today.
Today’s censorship is also justified on “emergency” grounds. Mis- and dis- and mal-information, plus “hate speech,” whatever these things are, threaten the social order, we are told.
But it’s really just a smokescreen. It is about removing or suppressing any messaging inconvenient to the agendas of those who rule us, whatever they may be. Can’t have the proles messing up the plans.
We saw a good dose of this during the late Pandemic, in which Government and social media teamed up to crush anyone not down with The Message.
World-class researchers and experts and ordinary folks alike had their careers destroyed and their reputations trashed merely for questioning the efficacy of lockdowns and social distancing, or for proposing that we focus limited resources primarily on more vulnerable populations. Or for suggesting that maybe we ought to, you know, test that experimental vaccine before unleashing it on the population at large. Or for pointing out that other nations had successfully used ivermectin, one of the most commonly prescribed medications ever, to suppress the virus in its early stages. Or for suggesting that maybe the virus had been engineered. And so on.
We know now that those who were suppressed were right about pretty much everything. Despite the best efforts of our rulers the truth eventually emerged. But if censors like Ms Harris had their way, that would not have happened.
And won’t happen again.
Item Number One in the Dictators’ Handbook is: Control the flow of information. If you can control what people see, read, and hear, you can control what they think. And if you can control what they think, you can bend them to your will. Covid was a test-run, from which much was learned.
Kamala Harris is a friend of censorship. It’s for your own good, we must have unity, we must protect marginalized groups, that sort of thing. She probably means well. But isn’t there a famous saying about the avenue to perdition and the nature of its pavement?
Freedom of speech is freedom of thought. It is the foundation of our democratic republic. This fundamental freedom is under assault by a powerful and determined cabal that wants this freedom to go away because it is inconvenient to its plans. After years of patient groundwork, the cabal smells victory. Decades of constant, low-impact conditioning have convinced a majority of people under 40 who identify as “liberal” that the First Amendment is “problematic,” because it enables hate speech and misinformation. And Ms Harris is their champion.
For this and many other reasons, I oppose Kamala Harris for President. And if you value your fundamental freedoms, you should too.
